Taiwanese Snacks

Today, we will introduce Chinese Food. I think Chinese Food is very special and famous in foreigner’s mind. Especially are Taiwan’s snacks. But, why it is famous? Why can it be so special? It is really a good question. We searched the internet and found several points that can explain why Taiwan’s snacks are so popular. The first one point is they all have very heavy smell or taste. For example, Stinky tofu the smell is really very stinky, just like its name it is very foul. And according to market research, we can tell you that if the Stinky tofu’s smell were heavier, the people would have more accepted on it. It is really very weird, but it is truth. Stinky tofu is a very good model for smell.

Now I will use another way to support my research. Betel nut (Areca catechu), it is a kind of fruit. You can eat it by many kinds of styles like fresh or you can add some ingredients (white or red lime and leaf) inside the fruit. I know it sounds a little bit strange but it is the truth. It tastes very special, and you will addictive to eating it. I have to admit that it is sometimes like a drug.
The second point is we discovered that Taiwan’s food receive a lot of abroad country food’s excellence. That is why Taiwan’s food can be so special and so many people can accept it. By the way, Taiwan have so many food is very delicious. If you want to visit Taiwan especially you want to go to the night market. I can recommend some snacks for you. Oyster thin noodles、Fried rice noodles、Horse hooves、Tofu pudding、Oyster omelet、Salty rice pudding、Taiwanese Meatballs and Stinky tofu … etc. If you have been to Taiwan but you didn’t try it. It is too bad. I feel sorry for you.

How to Shop in Seattle by Vivian

There are many things to shop for in Seattle: clothes, accessories, shoes, electronics, and jewelry. First of all, if you want to go shopping, you have to choose a catalog of article. Then you should decide where to go and with who. If you want to buy clothes or shoes, you should go larger shopping mall or a department store that it has various and broader. For example, there are many stores in Seattle like Macy’s, Nordstrom, Bellevue and JC Penny etc. If you are worried which about price you can go to an outlet store. Furthermore you can do that at home. Shopping time is anytime, when the stores are closed, go online like e-bay for internet shopping. When you research into a something at home, then you will pay the price for the thing. So it will be yours.
Next, if you want to buy electronics, you can go to Best Buy. It’s a good shop for it.
Finally, if you want to buy accessories or jewelry, you can go near small market or everywhere. Everywhere you go, you will find the same thing. I recommend that you go near your home. Sometimes if it isn’t haste, you will get near holidays in Seattle. For example, Christmas shopping is the biggest shopping and spending season. Then you can save money.

Are you bored because of studying? Do you need something new? How about shopping? There are a lot of shopping malls in Seattle, and we can choose the kind of shopping malls we want. Especially I will recommend three kinds of shopping malls that are Bellevue Square, Department stores (JC Penny, Macy, and Nordstrom), Seattle Premium outlet. Each mall has good points and bad points, so as you read this, think about your shopping style, and choose one of them.

First, Bellevue square is the best of everything, and it means it is more expensive than other shopping malls. The mall has 180 retail stores, including JCPenney, Macy's, and Nordstrom. Bellevue Square also offers security services, valet parking, a local shuttle bus, and children's play areas. Moreover, interior design of this mall is very beautiful to walk thorough especially at Christmas time. People who want to shop in malls want to eat something after shopping. They have a huge variety of restaurants, so enjoy not only shopping but also food! If you want to shop with your family, you will feel more comfortable because this mall is designed with parents in mind: Family restrooms, two play areas and stroller rental help make the shopping experience enjoyable.

Second, there are a lot of different kinds of department stores, for example, JCPenny, Macy, and Nordstrom. The department stores are usually included in malls as anchors. The nearest mall from P.L.U is Tacoma mall that has the kinds of anchors. Each shop has different moods, various sorts of clothes and brands. Every department store offer apparel, shoes, jewelry, cosmetics, fragrances and accessories for men, women and kids. Choose from top brands, the best styles and the biggest selection.

Third, if you want to get some stuff that has special price, you can choose Seattle Premium Outlet. However, it will be better that you plan one day for shopping in there. This outlet mall (pictured beside) is located just 30 minutes north of Seattle. All of the various stores are collected in this outlet mall. Among them are: Adidas, Burberry, Chico's, Crabtree & Evelyn, Fossil, Guess, Calvin Klein, Ann Taylor Factory Store, Coldwater Creek Outlet, Eddie Bauer, Izod, Polo Ralph Lauren, Mikasa, Movado, Sony, Seiko, Nike, and Restoration Hardware.
Seattle Premium Outlets is open Monday through Saturday from 10am to 9pm and on Sunday from 10am to 7pm. You can buy some kinds of luxury goods in cheap prices. When you have enough time for shopping, use this mall! It will be exciting and good shopping.

As I have mentioned, there are many ways to shop in Seattle. Choose one place, which is fit in your schedule and time, for shopping. Enjoy your time to shop in Washington when you feel bored!

Taxes in Washington and Oregon (Yuto)

Washington is in North West America. And it is near by Oregon. Oregon is under the Washington. And I will write about taxes between Washington and Oregon.
At first Washington has a 6.5% statewide sales tax. But it is not applied most food items and prescription medications. Municipalities and regional transit authorities are entitled to collect a sales tax, which vary from 0.7% to 2.4%. In the City of Seattle, and neighboring municipalities in the same county, the King County Food & Beverage tax adds an additional .5% to food and beverages purchased in bars, taverns and restaurants resulting in an effective tax rate of 9.4% (8.9% on all other items).
But Oregon has no statewide sales tax, although local municipalities may impose sales taxes if they so choose.
Therefore if you want to buy something, it’s better to buy in Oregon. Because it’s takes about 2 hours from Tacoma to Portland. And you can enjoy your shopping.

Hip hop is a genre of music that began in New York City in the 1970s. This genre has its origins in the rhythms of R&B, disco, and funk. The typical instruments of hip hop are turntables, rapping, drum machines, sampler, synthesizers, and human beatboxing. One element of hip hop is breakdancing which is a street dance style.

People enjoy hip hop very much, because its rhythms are moving and fun and people listen to this kind of music in many countries.

One of the most important American rappers is Shawn Corey Carter, better known as Jay-z. Jay-z recorded Reasonable Doubt in 1996, The Blueprint in 2001 and American Gangster in 2007.

Another famous American rapper is Cordozar Calvin Broadus, Jr. better known as Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg recorded albums Doggystyle in 1993, No Limit Top Dogg in 1999, and Ego Trippin' in 2008.

The emergence of the recording industry caused it to move to New York and formalized the treatment of Jazz.
The 1920’s would soon be known as the emergence of the Jazz era. Jazz gained international acclaim at that time. Then the band was grown up. The music became a symbol of cross fertilization of musical sensibilities. People would go out to hear Jazz, and go to neighborhoods, where the may have never ventures to in the past just to be entertained. Although white clubs in black neighborhoods, so desegregation was occurring.

I like to listen to Jazz music and play Jazz music. I like the musician whose name is Michel Petrucciani. He was disabled. He was only three feet tall and weighed barely 50 pounds) and weakened his bones. But he overcame his adversities . Michel Petrucciani was a national hero in France, and his records were best sellers in Europe.
